No, you do not have to be published to join the Central Coast Writers club. Membership is open to anyone interested in writing or writing services, including content writing, copywriting, blog writing, and article writing. The CCW welcomes authors of all genres and experience levels.
No. Monthly meetings are open to the general public free of charge. There is a voluntary donation jar at the sign-in desk to help offset the room rental and speaker fees, but donations are completely voluntary.
Yes. The CCW sponsors small group sessions (typically 10-12 people) we call "Writers Roundup" approximately every other month. These sessions are led by experienced members of the CCW covering a variety of subjects in which they have expertise ("writers helping writers'').
We also have a monthly Literary Salon which is a small informal gathering of members (typically at a local coffee shop) to discuss what they are working on, and share developing work in a non-threatening and supportive environment.
Our meetings are free of charge and open to the general public because it is part of our mission to educate the general public on the art and craft of writing. Membership in the CCW brings with it membership in the California Writers Club and certain members-only benefits like CCW social events (summer party, winter holiday party), reduced workshop fees at writing workshops sponsored by the California Writers Club, discounts on entering some writing contests, and the ability to submit work for consideration and possible publication in CWC and local club literary reviews. Members get pre-notification of speakers, events and workshops.
We're an informal, friendly group, so don't be shy! Plan to arrive at the Center for Spiritual Awakening anytime between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. You'll get a badge at the check-in table and if you wish, help us fill the voluntary donation jar. Seating is theater-style and open. This is not a dinner meeting, but we do offer free pizza and bottled water. You are welcome to bring your own snacks or beverages, including beer or wine, but be prepared to also supply your own utensils and glassware for drinking. At 6:15 p.m., we begin a short business meeting with announcements of upcoming events and a reading of a work-in-progress by one of our members. The speaker's presentation starts at around 6:30 and lasts approximately one hour. Our meetings typically conclude between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m.
